The Fun Fund was founded by Malik Shadid, a 16 year old Arab-American teenager living in Cambridge. I started the organization to try to make a difference, by speaking with actions, not words. It all started when I hosted a yard sale selling my childhood things, like stuffed animals, books, board games, and legos. By the end, I collected enough to buy several Palestinian children recovering in Lebanon brand new iPads. Since then, The Fun Fund has raised over 20,000 dollars and helped over 600 kids displaced by war from Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, collaborating with organizations like the Ghassan Abu Sitta Children’s Fund, INARA, and Arcenciel. Our mission is to attempt to give back children a small part of their childhood that war has taken away from them, and to do that we buy arts and crafts, stuffed animals, electronics, and books to give to the kids in collaboration with the afro mentioned organizations.
